Cyclone Remal IMD issues warning heavy rainfal relief teams deployed


Cyclone Remal: Cyclone Remal will hit the coasts of Bangladesh and West Bengal by Sunday evening. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding this cyclone. This will be the first cyclone of the monsoon season in the Bay of Bengal.

Due to this cyclone, winds can blow at a speed of 102 km per hour. At the same time, heavy rains may occur on 26 and 27 May in the coastal districts of West Bengal, North Odisha, Mizoram, Tripura and South Manipur.

The storm is moving forward

The Meteorological Department said that the low pressure area marked over the west central and adjoining south Bay of Bengal has turned into a storm on 24 May over the central Bay of Bengal, about 800 km south-southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh) and 810 km south of Canning (West Bengal). This storm is currently moving north. This storm can cross Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts between Sagar Island and Khepupara around midnight of 26 May.

It may rain in these states

According to the Meteorological Department, there may be rain in Assam and Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura on 27 and 28 May. There is a possibility of rain in the coastal districts of West Bengal on 26 May.

Advice given not to go into the sea

In view of the cyclone, the Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to go into the sea. Apart from this, the fishermen who are already in the sea have been advised to return to the coast before May 26.

Teams deployed for rescue

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has started taking necessary steps to deal with the cyclonic storm ‘Remal’. Nine disaster relief teams have been deployed at strategic locations to minimize the possible loss of life and property at sea. According to the Ministry of Defense, ‘9 disaster relief teams have been deployed in Haldia, Paradip, Gopalpur and Fraserganj. Apart from this, 10 ships and 2 aircraft have been deployed on the east coast so that they can keep an eye on the fishermen present or going to the sea.
